About DODL

The DODL of the University of Kalyani was established with a view to achieving , among others , the following objectives:

1. To make higher education available to persons who for one reason or others are not in a position to prosecute studies under formal programmes as regular full time students in academic institutions.
2. To make higher education available to all irrespective of age and place of residence particularly keeping in mind the need of the working persons and of those residing in remote areas.
3. To develop a system of education that is neither entirely separate from nor wholly independent of the formal full time campus system of education. It would form complement to the latter.
4. To provide a system of student centered , self paced learning. Emphasis is laid on the development of self learning study material which are specially designed and the students have to set their own methodology of learning with the help of various teaching / learning aids available.
5. To inculcate a sense of confidence in the mind of the students and to try to make them prepared for facing the advts of the competitive market.
6. To help students understand the true meaning of education.

Objective

We believe that financial barriers should not be a barrier for individuals for pursuing academic sucsession in their choiceable subjects.

6. Increasing enrolment of students under distance courses to increase GER in Higher Education in India.
7. Reformation of examination systems of distance education adopting IT enabled environment and online examination through proctoring Al system adhering to the UGC-DEB Regulation, 2020 & its amendment.
8. Ensure student friendly quality teaching and learning environment for the distance courses under this University.
9. Optimum utilization of resources and means for developing knowledge-based society.

About Santipur College Learner Center

The Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (DODL), University of Kalyani, recognized Santipur College as a Study Centre for Postgraduate studies in 2016. Since then, our college has been offering M.A. programmes in Bengali, English, and History, commencing from January 1, 2016. The study centre code assigned to us is N10.

Our objective has been to provide opportunities for higher education to students who, due to financial constraints, geographical limitations, or lower marks in graduation, are unable to pursue regular postgraduate courses. The DODL, University of Kalyani, ensures timely delivery of all essential academic documents such as Mark Sheets, Certificates, Enrollment and Registration Certificates, Identity Cards, and Self-Learning Materials. These are duly distributed to students from our end with proper coordination.

We maintain dedicated WhatsApp groups for each subject through which important notices—regarding examinations, admit card and marksheet distribution, and other updates—are promptly shared. Our administrative support and smooth functioning have been appreciated by students, and we are proud to report that there have been no complaints regarding our services.

Our faculty comprises highly qualified and experienced teachers, who conduct regular classes as per the routine. The M.A. curriculum is divided into four semesters, to be completed over a period of two years. Admission to these programmes is done through an online centralized admission system managed by the DODL, University of Kalyani.

We remain committed to addressing students’ educational challenges and strive continuously to enhance the quality and reach of postgraduate education through this centre. With determination and cooperation, we look forward to a brighter and more impactful future for the DODL Study Centre at Santipur College.
