About College

Founded on 22nd July 1948 by the then Member of Parliament Pandit Laxmi Kanta Moitra, Santipur College stands as one of the oldest and most reputed institutions of higher education in Nadia district, West Bengal. The college began under the University of Calcutta and has been affiliated with the University of Kalyani since 2000.

Recognized by the UGC under sections 2(f) and 12(B), the institution was assessed and accredited by NAAC in 2007 and 2021, reflecting its consistent pursuit of academic excellence. From its humble beginnings, Santipur College has grown into a vibrant institution, offering a broad spectrum of undergraduate programs in Arts, Science, and Commerce, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP).

Supported by a team of highly qualified faculty, the college caters to the aspirations of students from diverse backgrounds, with special attention to first-generation learners and girl students. It also hosts the Netaji Subhas Open University Study Centre and DODL, expanding access to distance and continuing education.

Beyond academics, the college fosters holistic development through facilities such as NCC (for both boys and girls), NSS units, a gymnasium, two large playgrounds, an open-air theatre, and a green campus that provides a stimulating environment for growth.
