About Department

The Department of Political Science at Santipur College is committed to fostering a deep understanding of political thought, governance, public policy, and international relations. Since its inception, the department has aimed to cultivate critical thinking, analytical skills, and a sense of social responsibility among its students.

Objective

The objective of the department is to nurture responsible citizens of the future. Students must not only learn wisely and contribute positively to others, but also possess the ability to inspire those around them, thereby helping to build a better nation.

Mission

To provide quality education in Political Science that fosters critical thinking, civic responsibility, and a deep understanding of political systems, governance, and global affairs; to nurture students as informed citizens and ethical leaders committed to the values of democracy and social justice.

Vision

To be a leading hub for Political Science education, recognised for producing graduates who contribute meaningfully to society, influence public policy, and uphold the principles of equity, freedom, and participatory governance.

Purpose

  1. To cultivate a spirit of inquiry and analytical reasoning in the study of politics and governance.
  2. To equip students with knowledge and skills for careers in academia, public service, law, media, and related fields.
  3. To inspire active engagement in social and political processes for building a just and inclusive nation.
  4. To promote community outreach on pressing political issues at local and national levels.

Functioning

The Department of Political Science functions through interactive lectures, discussions to enhance learning. It encourages group activities to develop critical thinking and organises seminars.

Regular assessments, mentoring, and career guidance are provided to students.

Jointly organized by the Department of Political Science in collaboration with IQAC, Santipur College.
Thought-provoking perspectives were shared, engaging the audience in lively discussions. The event proved to be an enriching experience for students, researchers, and faculty members, broadening their understanding of contemporary political issues.
